The Hplusroadmap chat room—#hplusroadmap on the freenode server,
port 6667—is the official IRC chatroom of the hplusroadmap group.
See http://heybryan.org.
This chatroom is for people who are interested in personally working in frontier science, in areas like biotech, nanotech, and AI.
If you're looking for advice on a project in this area, then please visit this chatroom, and give a brief explanation of the projects you want to work on.
You may need to wait a while before someone replies.
Most of the people there only check the IRC chatroom a few times per day, because they're busy working on other important stuff.
You may see a message that says "The application's digital signature cannot be verified" when the applet first loads. This is normal. You will need to allow the java application to run in order to connect to the chatroom.
Note that #hplusroadmap runs on the same machine as several other organizations,
whose chat rooms will also appear if you connect to freenode as your IRC server.
These other organizations and their chat rooms are not affiliated
with http://heybryan.org.
(Although there is considerable overlap between the people
who hang out in, for example, #cosmeng, #hplusroadmap, #lesswrong, and #transhumanism.)
To join one of these other chatrooms, use the /join command. For example, to join the #transhumanism channel, you would enter "/join #transhumanism" in the chat window.
You can connect to #hplusroadmap using any IRC client (see a partial
list of IRC clients by environment). The following applet should also let
you connect to #hplusroadmap directly if you are using a Java-enabled browser:
